Data snapshot for "An Out-of-Sample Test of the Proposed Link Between Solar Polar
Magnetic Fields and M8+ Earthquakes" (2026)
https://factchecked.science/solar-polar-earthquakes/

These are the two input files as we saved them on October 11, 2026, when we re-ran
the study's code. They give results identical to the study's, which used copies
retrieved on October 6, 2026.

wso_polar.html
Wilcox Solar Observatory polar field observations, saved from
http://wso.stanford.edu/Polar.html (the page says it was last updated
  August 10, 2026). Values run from May 31, 1976, to January 9, 2026; later
  rows are blank.

usgs_m75.csv
All earthquakes of magnitude 7.5 and above from January 1, 1976, to
October 6, 2026, in the USGS ANSS Comprehensive Earthquake Catalog (ComCat),
  saved from
  https://earthquake.usgs.gov/fdsnws/event/1/query?format=csv&starttime=1976-01-01&endtime=2026-10-06&minmagnitude=7.5&orderby=time-asc
222 events, 40 of them M8.0 or above. Dates are UTC.

To rerun the test, put both files in one folder with spf_windows.py,
davidson_out_of_sample.py and supporting_numbers.py from the page above, then run

    python3 davidson_out_of_sample.py
    python3 supporting_numbers.py

They need Python 3 and NumPy.

The polar-field record is from the Wilcox Solar Observatory, Stanford University.
The earthquake catalog is from the U.S. Geological Survey.
